History of Holy Trinity Episcopal School
In early 1994, a group of parents and other interested people in the Atascocita-Kingwood area met to discuss plans for a superior quality private school for northeast Harris County, within the discipline and care of the Episcopal Church.
Contact was made with the two Episcopal churches in the area - Christ the King Episcopal Church of Atascocita (www.ctkatascocita.org) and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church of Kingwood (www.goodshepherdkingwood.org), with favorable response and interest. Initial visits were made to other Episcopal schools within the Diocese of Texas to learn about establishing a school.
The Bishop of Texas was notified of the plans, and the Diocesan office was kept informed of each step in the process. The enterprise was incorporated that year as Holy Trinity Episcopal School of Greater Houston, Inc. Independent School Management of Wilmington, Delaware was retained to conduct a market and feasibility study. Their findings were very encouraging and, in early 1995, the corporation received designation as a 501(c)(3) entity by the IRS. A strategic planning retreat refined the plans further and identified the steps necessary to bring the project to fruition.
The Dini Partners, a well-regarded fund-raising and philanthropic consulting firm based in Houston, was retained to assist in analyzing the fund-raising feasibility necessary to support ongoing operating expenses as well as the construction of new facilities. The Board also engaged the services of a respected local architectural firm to prepare a master development plan for the permanent site.
In 1997, a permanent campus site of ninety-six acres was located and secured in a strategic area of Northeast Harris County on Beltway 8 and efforts began to build a broader base of supporters, donors, and directors. Dr. Marina Ballantyne, who founded The John Cooper School and assisted with the start-up of two other private schools, was hired as a consultant. In the meantime, plans were moved forward to secure the necessary funds and resources to hire a Head of School and proceed to opening. |

In the winter of 1999, Wickenden Associates Educational Consulting Services was retained to facilitate a national search for a Head of School. Ms. Pamela Dean was hired as a result of that search. Ms. Dean has an extensive background in Episcopal schools, having served as teacher, Lower School Head, and Head of School in three Episcopal schools. She began employment in August 1999. The school opened in temporary facilities adjacent to Christ the King Episcopal Church of Atascocita for the 2000-2003 school years.
In February 2004, the school moved from its temporary facilities into its permanent location growing the school to incorporate 3 year olds through 8th grade, and in April 2004, The Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES) awarded Holy Trinity full accreditation.
